Welcome to the 11th season courses and workshops at Bunbury Art Studio.

I offer returning students a €10 reduction and for new students €10 euro off all bookings before 1st April also 10% off all group bookings ( 6 or more ).

This year there are 14 Art weekends / workshops for adults .Fees are reduced from €180 to €10 this year - a return to 2003 prices.

Art Courses & workshops are held in Trudi's studio in her garden at Crecrin Ballyconnell, Tullow, Co Carlow- Bunbury Art Studio, situated in beautiful countryside on the border of Carlow and Wicklow. With places limited to just ten per art course, early booking is advised.

Courses start at 10 am and finish between 4 & 4.30pm. Lunch from 12.30 to 2. Your lunch option this year ; bring a packed lunch and relax in the studio or garden or partake of delicious fare in local Rathwood Restaurant

Is a professional artist and trained teacher . Her teaching experience is extensive - over twenty years teaching all levels of ability. She has a reputation for being an inspirational art tutor having taught new techniques and approaches to practiced artists as well as helping many complete beginners to get started.She believes in giving plenty of individual attention and encouragement and limits class sizes to facilitate this. She is especially known for sharing her passion for watercolours. Trudi welcomes enthusiastic visiting tutor and oil painter Pat Maher to the studio again this year and is looking forward to meeting old and new friends.

 

ART COURSE 2010  DETAILS

1.Watercolours  - - - - Tutor Trudi Doyle

Designed for the apprehensive beginner, and those who feel at sea in this medium this course will introduce you to  a range of simple techniques in watercolour; how to use & mix colour, lay washes , paint wet in wet and compose a painting, all demonstrated in Trudi's paint along method which willreinforce your understanding of how this beautiful medium works  giving you the confidence to produce paintings to be proud of .

Take the plunge into the absorbing colourful & rewarding world of watercolour ! You should complete at least one painting and several sketches.

Award winning artist Pat Maher, a master at capturing the elusive effects of light and shade returns to share his expertise. He is a patient and experienced tutor who brings out the best in painters of all abilities. He includes instruction on good composition, colour and tone with demonstrations and individual tuition. If you are starting out or  want to develop a surer approach , this course is for you.

3   ALL NEW - ART SAMPLE  DAYS   with Trudi Doyle

A chance to try  Drawing,  some Watercolours & Acrylics . Suitable those who always wanted to take up painting but havent gort round to it .  This "no pressure" day will give you a taste of basic drawing and painting techniques & skills & show how to compose a painting. All materials  are supplied for the day & you will go home with a new insight & enthusiasm  to continue.

ACRYLICS - Tutor Trudi Doyle--------

Acrylics are an easy to use & versatile medium. Diluted with water they can be used like watercolour or used straight from the tube , they produce depth and colour similar to oil painting. Their quick drying nature allows layers to be built up faster than oil paint and their opacity means that they are forgiving of mistakes.This workshop will include simple drawing skills and painting techniques, learning the basics while completing at least one simple painting

For those who wish to loosen up and enliven their work. Learn ways of developing your work by experimenting with a variety of techniques and "tricks of the trade" e.g. sponging, masking, salt effects, cling film textures and the use of mixed media . Delight in the discovery of unexpected effects, keeping an open mind to happy accidents, finding ways of incorporating your new skills into your paintings whether abstract, figurative, landscape, still life, etc. Learn from Trudi the well kept secrets of transparent glowing watercolours and effortlessly achieve freshness and vibrancy in your paintings.

MATERIALS - A list of suggested materials for your course will be sent to you on receipt of your booking.

ACCOMMODATION - There are many nearby places to stay if required- a list of B&Bs & Hotels in the locality will be sent to you on request when you book a course.

All classes are held between 10 am & 4. 30 pm and break for lunch between 12.30 & 2. A selection of complementary Teas, coffee, biscuits etc. available all day.

Late bookings( Less than 3 weeks before) - please telephoneTrudi 059 9156299 to check that a place is available.

CANCELLATIONS - If it is necessary to cancel a course for any reason, participants will be informed as soon as possible and fees including deposits will be fully refunded. No further liability will be accepted. In the event of applicant cancelling a booking less than 2 weeks before a course, failing to take a booked place -being absent from a course or missing a day no refund will be given.

Fees cover tuition from professional artist in the studio, use of facilities and equipment, tea, coffee etc.
